12 days of Christmas at the1407

One the Twelfth Day of Christmas my true gave to me, a partridge in a pear tree… who doesn’t love that song! Gets you in the spirit of the Holidays, doesn’t it?

Since we haven’t had partridges in pear trees, turtle doves, leaping dancers and maids a milking in centuries, the1407 household has updated the twelve days of Christmas.

Each year we get asked how to use the 12-day pages that comes in the Christmas kit as an insert. Our house has such a busy schedule with our boys coming and going between households that we start the weekend after Thanksgiving and space the countdown out up to Christmas. This gives us flexibility if we need to change a day. We want a stress-free holiday after all, right?

We wrap theme gifts for them to open starting with Day 12. It’s typically an ornament or something to do with decorating since our first event of the Christmas holiday is putting up the tree. The next 10 days will either be another fun gift or a card describing a family activity, such as Christmas Charades or volunteering. The last gift, Day 1, bringing us to Christmas Eve, has always been a pair of pajamas – that way everyone looks great for the Christmas pictures the next morning!
